MICHAEL BORMANN – DIFFERENT (REVIEW)

Out now on AOR Heaven

Michael Bormann is a rather prolific German singer, probably best know from his work with Jaded Heart.  I have to admit I’m not familiar with most of his output, but I did find his 2008 solo-album “Capture The Moment” very enjoyable.

“Different” is a rather poppy affair. Hints of 80s AOR mingle with more contemporary melodic rock influences. Bormann is a fine singer, but the songs don’t always connect.  When it works, like in “Think Twice”, “Somebody” or “Who wants to get older” we’re treated to some very neat melodic rock. Unfortunately there’s some duffers like “Mr Rock n Roll” and “Was Mir Fehlt” to take away from the experience.

If you’re looking to rock out, you’ll need to look somewhere else. This album straddles the line between AOR and easy listening. If you’re in a mellow mood it might hit the spot.
